The year started with never ever before super hit Malayalam films running successfully in Tamilnadu Theatres. Esteemed filmmaker Mani Ratnam who encourages new & bold ideas has released the trailer of the malayalam film ‘Paradise’ yesterday. Directed by his friend and internationally acclaimed filmmaker Prasanna Vithanage, the film has garnered attention for its exploration of a nation on the brink of economic ruination, intricate relationships, and the testing of morality and humanity in challenging circumstances.
‘Paradise’, features a ensemble cast including yesteryear Malayalam hit film ‘Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya He’ fame Darshana Rajendran, Roshan Mathew, Shyam Fernando, and Mahendra Perera. The promising crew includes Anushka Senanayake as co-writer, Rajeev Ravi as cinematographer, Sreekar Prasad as editor, Tapas Nayak as sound designer, and K as the music director. Produced by Newton Cinema and presented by Mani Ratnam’s Madras Talkies, ‘Paradise’ is shot entirely in Sri Lanka when economic crisis is on its peak. And this also marks the debut collaboration of Madras Talkies with the Malayalam film industry.
Receiving over many honours, including the prestigious Kim Jiseok Award at the Busan International Film Festival & Prix Du Jury Lyceen 2024 award at the 30th Vesoul International Film Festival, ‘Paradise’ delves into the profound narrative of Sri Lanka’s recent economic crisis.
